The International Double Reed Society (IDRS) is a member-based organization established in December 1971, comprising professional double reed players, students, amateurs, instructors, music teachers, institutions, instrument manufacturers, reed makers, and enthusiasts. IDRS aims to encourage the performance of double reed literature, improve instruments and related materials, promote composition for double reeds, serve as a resource for performers, assist teachers and students in achieving high performance standards, and facilitate cooperation between the music industry and the Society. Membership is open to individuals regardless of race, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin, with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the global double reed community.
