Background: Kaohsiung Opto-Electronics Inc. Kaohsiung Opto-Electronics (KOE), a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan Display Inc (JDI), was formed in 2012 to advance the design, development and manufacture of market leading TFT LCD display modules previously established by Hitachi. KOE will maintain a renowned Japanese dedication for the design and manufacture of high quality products. Financial Status: KOE Group Japan Display Inc (JDI) was formed by the merger of the small and medium size LCD panel businesses of Hitachi, Sony and Toshiba in conjunction with the Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ). INCJ has invested $2.6 billion and with a stake of 70% is the largest shareholder in Japan Display Inc. The new business has extensive fabrication facilities in Japan and commences operations in the spring of 2012. Japan Display Inc is expected to be the worlds largest small and medium size LCD manufacturer and will produce displays for mobile phones, tablet computers, automotive and medical equipment.
