The Kress Motor Drive System is a patented, new Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) design with an associated power electronics Drive. Kress Motors LLC was founded in 2009 to commercially develop the new electric motor design technology invented by Timm Vanderelli and Rodney Carter. The mission of Kress Technology is to further develop this patented electric motor and drive technology into a commercially-viable system. Kress Technology intends to license Intellectual Property from the development to clients who currently produce electric motors. In parallel, Kress Technology is seeking customers who wish to buy Motor and Drive Systems in volume for build-to-suit applications in the 10 100 hp range. Kress Technology has a prototype 10 hp Motor Drive System under production, and is exploring how to scale this prototype to 50 hp in partnership with a major systems producer / user. It offers unique field reparability, superior starting / operational performance, and monitoring capability that enables reduced downtime, improved operations, and more efficient power management. New developments in solid state devices and magnetics have converged to create a new dynamics in the very traditional electric motor market. Kress Technology is actively searching for first customers with initial target applications that award premium value to reliability, improved operations, and field reparability. Kress Technology is the new name for Kress Motors LLC. The name was changed in January, 2015 to reflect the increasing importance of R&D in both motor and drive technology to Kress.
