Luis was born in Ecuador but moved to the United States in 1985. He attended jewelry school in Cuenca, Ecuador, known for its rich architecture and the major cultural center of arts. When he was eighteen, he started working as a diamond setter in Canal Street, NY. He thanks God for gifting him with an exceptional ability to set any diamonds or precious stones. His great talent allowed him to create his own ways of setting stones and invent some of his own setting tools. He was able to adapt quickly, and as soon as he mastered jewelry manufacturing and jewelry repair he opened his own shop at the age of twenty. He got to where he is now with hard work and tireless nights.
