M.O.M. Tools was established in August 2003 to bring the benefits of the Dual-Tip punch to the metal fabrication, fastener and related industries. Tools serves all sectors of the metal fabrication and fastener industry with a major competitive advantage in applications requiring high volume or a high level of precision. The search for an economical and reliable method to produce high quality holes, capable of maintaining a shear band length that exceeds 70% of material thickness, has eluded manufacturers in processing stainless steels, high strength steels and especially thick materials. The current method of generating a hole can only produce a 30% shear band at best. In attempting to increase the shear band length beyond this level, the current methodology most often results in rapid tool wear, which also brings about edge chipping and galling. This manufacturing conundrum perplexed the manufacturing community until the development of the M.O.M. Tools' Dual Tip punch technology. To date, after extensive laboratory and manufacturing evaluations the M.O.M. Tool's Dual Tip punch design has continuously demonstrated the ability to achieve a shear band greater than 80% in a single punch stroke, resulting in increased hole quality, as well as, extended performance life of the punch tool.
