RPM Innovations, Inc.

RPM Innovations (RPMI) specializes in Blown Powder Directed Energy Deposition (DED). RPMI provides application development, manufacturing, and repair solutions for its customers, as well as manufacture a complete line of DED Systems which include a Model 222XR and a Model 557XR (5 x-axis by 5 y-axis by 7 z-axis) which employ fiber lasers up to 4 kW. DED is characterized as a process in which metal powder is injected into the focused beam of a high-power laser under tightly controlled atmospheric conditions. The focused laser beam melts the surface of the target material and generates a small molten pool of base material. Powder delivered into this same spot is absorbed into the melt pool. The result is a high-quality metallurgically bonded metal deposit which is utilized for: 1) Freeform parts to near net shape directly from CAD data; 2) Repair worn or damaged components not typically considered repairable with conventional methods; or 3) Cladding of parts to directly apply material or features to castings or forgings using a cladding application.
