Located in Detroit, Michigan, Secure Beginnings, llc holds U.S. Patent # US 8,607,390 B2 issued in 2013. Secure Beginnings began marketing and selling the first completely breathable crib mattress that allows an infant who is face straight down to breathe normally, in 2010. Its products are also the first machine washable crib mattresses developed. The mission of Secure Beginnings, llc is to deliver to consumers a safer, more sanitary, substitute to traditional crib mattresses that provides a better nights sleep for babies and to promote air permeable crib mattresses as the standard for safety in the Safe Sleep Initiative. Secure Beginnings is working with government agencies and Safe Sleep experts to establish air permeability rates, carbon dioxide retention rate standards, and firmness standards for crib mattresses using ASTM standards.
