Terpon is a multi-awarded B2B tech company that has successfully developed and produced the world first professional 3D-VR USB-3 plug & play webcam that can be operated 7/24 without thermal issues (only 1 Watt consumption) on low-end computers such as i3-gen7 PCs. A pilot test (1,000 units that have been purchased by a small size innovative livecam platform) has clearly demonstrated that the users' retention is greater with VR streams than with regular 2D streams (e.g. streams mainly produced with Logitech webcams). Indeed, livecaming at the opposite of pre-recorded streaming is all about interaction and reward. Ultra-low latency Virtual Reality and Haptics is therefore the logical next step toward a "like real life experience" customers are seeking for. On an economical point of view, livecaming is currently dominated by the Adult Entertainment (over $6Bn market which is reaching an audience larger than the Super Bowl everyday - over 120 million daily viewers - and a total of 500 million recurrent viewers + 300 million in China which together 800 million is comparable to the largest social media networks), and by the e-sport (over 3 million active broadcasters on Twitch with an accelerated growth since the end of 2019. Due to the market constriction (Covid19 impact: more broadcasters and more viewers BUT overall less revenues) and despite the increase of interest from final users, many large livecam platforms have postponed their VR implementation. Therefore, we decided to close Terpon's activities. All the brand rights have been reacquired by JC Artonne who was the main investor (Over $1.5m on a total of $3m invested in the project). He is now focusing on a new venture in humanoid robotics, keeping the ability to deliver a new generation of VR webcams to the industry when major platforms will be ready to integrate. Still we believe that as soon as the livecam industry will largely adopt VR technologies, it will change for ever the overall VR industry.
