Val-Kill Furniture was started in 1926 in Hyde Park, New York by Eleanor Roosevelt and her two friends, Nancy Cook and Marion Dickerman. Val-Kill actually served as a model for FDR's "Second New Deal" that ultimately kick started the US economy and brought the country back from economic ruin. Unfortunately, the company ceased production some time later, and no furniture has been produced since the early 70's... We aim to change that... We are producing the same high quality furniture using the same values that she espoused nearly 80 years ago. And like Eleanor, we intend to provide employment to folks who have been marginalized and overlooked in the US.
