Wachusett Greenways is a nonprofit organization established in 1995, dedicated to connecting the Wachusett community with trails and greenways for nonmotorized recreation and historic preservation. Their primary focus is on the Mass Central Rail Trail (MCRT), a project that involves reclaiming the central 30 miles of the old Massachusetts Central Railroad route for a rail trail. They engage volunteers in trail work, construction, and maintenance, with completed sections including bridges and tunnels. Additionally, Wachusett Greenways built and maintains the White Oak Trail connected to Trout Brook Reservation in Holden, welcoming volunteers for trail development and maintenance efforts.
