Under the Fosbel family of companies, Wahl Refractory Solutions was originally founded by Oscar C. Wahl in 1921 and has grown to be a recognized leader in the manufacturing of precast shapes, refractory castables, mortars and plastics. Wahl introduced the use of steel fibers in castable with the development of Wire-N-Cast in 1970. Continued research efforts led to the development of the SIFCA (Slurry Infiltrated Fiber Castable) process, a method for producing precast shapes with steel fibers. Wahl Refractory Solutions is an industry leader in the production of precast refractory shapes ranging in size from very small to 33,000 pounds. Manufactured in a controlled environment, Wahl's precast shapes are fully cured and fired to ensure thermo-mechanical stability. Precast shapes can also be zoned based on customer needs. Wahl also manufactures over 100 brands of our own high quality refractories for field installations. Compositions include fireclays, 99% aluminas, spinels, zirconias, fused silicas, silicon carbides and many abrasion resistance and alkaline resistant materials including the proprietary WalMaxXx.
